Gramicci

Climber Mike Graham invented Gramicci's gusseted climbing short in his Ventura, California garage in 1982 — a hard-wearing canvas pant with a diamond-shaped crotch gusset (borrowed from kung-fu pants) for full 180-degree flexibility.

In 2017, Japanese trading house Itochu — which had held the Japan license since 2009 — bought Gramicci's worldwide rights. The brand now sits at the intersection of American climbing heritage and Japanese design discipline.
