adidas Samba OG in Canada: Colourways, Fit and Where to Buy

The Samba is the most-worn silhouette adidas makes, and the Samba OG is the version most people actually mean when they say it. This is a guide to buying one in Canada — what the OG is, how it fits, which colourways are worth considering, and where to get it from an authorized retailer.

What is the adidas Samba OG?

The Samba started life in 1950 as an indoor football boot, built for training on frozen ground. Everything that now reads as style was originally function: the low profile kept the foot close to the ball, the gum rubber outsole gripped an indoor court, and the T-shaped toe overlay protected the part of the shoe that took the most abuse.

The OG is the heritage cut of that shoe. Low, narrow, suede or leather upper, three stripes, T-toe, gum sole, moulded heel counter. It is not a modernised version — it is the shape the shoe has always been, which is exactly why it works.

If you are trying to decide between the Samba and the other adidas terrace silhouettes, we have a full breakdown in adidas Samba vs Spezial vs Campus.

How does the adidas Samba OG fit?

This is the question we get asked most in store, and the honest answer has two halves.

The Samba runs long and narrow. It is built on an indoor soccer last, which is a narrower shape than a normal trainer last. For a lot of people that means going half a size down from their usual sneaker size.

But not for everyone. If you have a wider foot, sizing down turns a narrow shoe into a painful one. Wider feet are almost always better staying true to size and letting the suede give a little over the first few wears.

The practical advice: if you can try them on, try both. If you are ordering online and you are genuinely unsure, order your true size — a shoe that is slightly roomy is a much easier problem than one that is too narrow across the toes. Our longer piece on this is Do adidas Sambas run small?

Which Samba OG colourway should you buy?

There are effectively three categories, and which one you want depends on what job the shoe is doing in your wardrobe.

1. The classic — black or white with contrast stripes

Cloud White with Core Black stripes, or the reverse. This is the version everyone recognises. It is also the version everyone has, which is either the point or the problem depending on your taste.

2. The tonal — stripes that read as texture

Tonal colourways put the upper, the three stripes and the heel patch in the same shade, so the stripes register as texture rather than branding. The Samba OG in Khaki Three is the current example on our shelves: khaki suede throughout, gum sole underneath, nothing shouting. It behaves like a neutral in a way the black-and-white pair does not, and it sits with washed denim, olive, brown and cream without competing.

3. The muted accent — one colour, desaturated

A white leather upper with a single soft colour on the stripes. The Women's Samba OG in Cloud White and Halo Green is this category done well — Halo Green is a sage rather than a bright green, with a deeper Tent Green heel patch, so the shoe reads as an off-white sneaker with a muted accent rather than a green shoe. It is the easiest kind of colour to actually wear.

Leather or suede?

Both are correct; they age differently.

  • Suede softens and creases into the shape of your foot. It also marks more easily and genuinely needs a protector spray before first wear, especially through a Canadian winter.
  • Leather is more weather-tolerant and wipes clean, but it creases sharply across the toe box rather than softening.

One thing that applies to both: the gum outsole yellows with UV exposure. That is normal and not a defect, but it is a reason not to store them on a sunny windowsill.

Where to buy the adidas Samba OG in Canada

Gallery Streetwear is an authorized adidas retailer at 588 Bernard Avenue in downtown Kelowna, BC. We carry the Samba OG in store and online, ship Canada-wide from Kelowna in 1–3 business days, and Canadian orders over $150 CAD ship free.

Buying from an authorized retailer matters more on the Samba than on most shoes, because it is one of the most counterfeited silhouettes in the world. Everything we sell comes through official adidas channels and arrives new in its original box.

In Kelowna: come and try both sizes on. Given how much the fit answer depends on your foot width, twenty minutes in store is worth more than any sizing chart, including this one.

Everywhere else in Canada: Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and everywhere between — we ship to all of it. Browse adidas Originals or read more on our adidas in Canada page.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy adidas Samba in Canada?
From Gallery Streetwear, an authorized adidas retailer at 588 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 6P2. We stock the Samba OG in store and online at gallerystreetwear.ca, ship Canada-wide from Kelowna in 1 to 3 business days, and Canadian orders over $150 CAD ship free.

Do adidas Samba OG run big or small?
They run long and narrow because they are built on an indoor soccer last. Many people take a half size down from their usual trainer size, but anyone with a wider foot should stay true to size rather than sizing down.

What is the difference between the Samba OG and the regular Samba?
The OG is the heritage cut — the low, narrow profile with the T-shaped toe overlay, gum outsole and moulded heel counter that the shoe has carried since 1950. Other Samba versions vary the materials, the sole height or the proportions.

Is the adidas Samba OG unisex?
The Samba OG is offered in both men's and women's sizing. The shoe is the same silhouette; the difference is the size run and the width the last is cut to, so check which sizing a listing uses before ordering.

Why does the gum sole on my Sambas look yellow?
Gum rubber yellows with exposure to UV light. It is a normal property of the material rather than a fault, and storing them out of direct sunlight slows it down.
