Gramicci has one of the most interesting origin stories in clothing. Founded in 1982 by climber Mike Graham in California, Gramicci made technical climbing pants for serious outdoor athletes. The brand nearly disappeared before being relaunched in Japan, where it became a cornerstone of the Japanese outdoor-meets-street aesthetic that now dominates global fashion.

About Gramicci
What makes Gramicci unique is that the clothes were designed for actual movement. The signature gusseted crotch, the webbing waistbelt, the technical fabrics — these are not aesthetic choices, they are functional ones. Mike Graham designed the original pant in 1982 for climbing in Yosemite: webbing belt for a one-handed cinch, gusseted crotch for full range of motion, twill that softens with wear.

Gramicci Sizing in Canada
Gramicci sizes to a Japanese chart rather than a North American one. That is a brand fact and it is the useful part. What we will not do is publish a conversion rule on top of it. This page previously carried two different rules that contradicted each other, which is a good indication neither was measured. Both have been removed.
Instead: tell us the piece and we will lay it flat and measure it — chest, body length, waist, inseam — and give you the numbers against your own measurements before you order.
