Afends Clothing in Canada — Sustainable Hemp Streetwear from Byron Bay at Gallery Streetwear

Afends started in Byron Bay, Australia in 2006. The founders were surfers and skaters who wanted clothing that matched where they were going — the ocean, the skate park, the road. Over time they became something a lot harder to find: a brand that actually built sustainability into the fabric itself, not just the marketing copy.

Hemp is central to everything they do. Not as a trend, not as a selling point — it's just how they make clothes. Hemp grows with minimal water, no pesticides, and improves the soil it's grown in. It's also stronger than cotton and gets softer with every wash. Once you wear a well-made hemp tee for a season, cotton feels like a step backwards.

Why We Carry Afends

Gallery Streetwear is one of only a handful of Canadian stockists carrying Afends. That's not by accident. We've always been selective about what we bring into the shop — if the brand doesn't have a real story and real construction behind it, it doesn't belong on our floor. Afends has both.

Their pieces sit in a specific zone that's genuinely hard to find: relaxed enough for summer, structured enough to look intentional. The cuts read streetwear but don't try too hard. A hemp cord shirt from Afends works with cargos, shorts, or jeans. It works in Kelowna heat and on a coastal road trip. That versatility is something we look for.

They also run certified organic and recycled material across most of their line, hold PETA-approved vegan status, and work with ethical factories. The details matter. You're not just buying a shirt — you're buying into how a brand operates.

What's In Stock

At Gallery, the Afends range shifts with the season, but you'll consistently find their core hemp tees, cord shirts, and relaxed shorts. The Dylan Hemp Shirt is one of their standout pieces — deadstock-style construction, boxy fit, easy to wear with basically anything. Their hemp fleece sets have been popular too, especially heading into the shoulder seasons when you want something substantial but breathable.

The colour palettes stay earthy — natural, tobacco, stone, clay. Nothing loud. It's clothing that works with what you already own.

Browse our full Afends collection to see what's currently in stock. Stock runs limited — this is curated quantity, not mass production. While you're at it, the streetwear collection pulls together everything we carry across the floor. And if something just dropped, new arrivals is always worth checking first.

Getting Afends in Canada

Afends doesn't have a Canadian storefront. Distribution here is sparse, which means finding it in a physical store that actually knows the brand is rare. We carry it because it belongs alongside the other names we stock — brands with roots in skate and surf culture, made for people who care how things are put together.

If you're in Kelowna, come by 588 Bernard Ave and try a few pieces on. Hemp clothing wears differently than synthetic or standard cotton — it's worth feeling the weight of it. If you're ordering from elsewhere in Canada, shipping is free on orders over $175 CAD. The US ships too.

FAQ

Where can I buy Afends in Canada?

Gallery Streetwear in Kelowna, BC is one of the few Canadian retailers stocking Afends clothing. You can shop in-store at 588 Bernard Ave or online at gallerystreetwear.ca with Canada-wide shipping.

Is Afends actually sustainable?

Yes — and specifically. Afends uses certified organic hemp and recycled materials across most of their range. They hold PETA-approved vegan certification and work with ethical manufacturers. Hemp itself is one of the most environmentally efficient crops available: low water use, no pesticides, and it actually restores soil health.

What does Afends hemp clothing feel like?

Hemp fabric is naturally coarser than cotton but softens significantly with washing and wear. It's breathable, durable, and has good temperature regulation — cooler in heat, and warmer than you'd expect in cool weather. Most people prefer it to cotton once they've worn it for a season.

Does Gallery Streetwear ship Afends across Canada?

Yes. We ship Canada-wide — free shipping on orders over $175 CAD, and a $17 flat rate under that. US orders ship for $25. International shipping is available at $55 flat.

What Afends pieces does Gallery carry?

Stock rotates seasonally, but we typically carry hemp tees, cord shirts, relaxed shorts, and fleece. Check the Afends collection page on gallerystreetwear.ca for live inventory.
