What makes a 9060 a 9060
New Balance unveiled the 9060 in 2022, designed by James Lee and Yue Wu. It reaches back into the 99X series, the line that started with the 990 in 1982, and pushes it somewhere new, borrowing proportions from 2000s runners like the 860v2.
Every colourway shares the same construction: a sculpted pod midsole with wavy overlays, ABZORB and SBS cushioning, expanded 990 sway bars, a translucent CR device at the heel and a diamond outsole pattern drawn from the 860. It reads retro-futuristic without being a costume, which is why it has outlasted the trend cycle that launched it.

New Balance makes the 9060 in a standard D width. It is a unisex last, so women often size across from men's.
