Clarks Originals doesn't reach for novelty often, which is what makes the Wallabee Tiger Print worth paying attention to. The tiger print upper is applied to the same hand-sewn, crepe-soled silhouette that has carried the brand since 1966 — same construction, considerably more personality.
It's a limited departure from the suede originals that rewards those who are already fluent in the Wallabee language. The print reads differently depending on the light — bold in direct sun, more textured and muted indoors. Wear it with something simple and let the shoe do the work.
Clarks Originals fit true to size in most styles. The Wallabee runs slightly wide — narrow-footers should consider sizing down half. The Desert Boot fits standard. If between sizes, size up half.
Brush off dry dirt with a soft suede brush before it sets. For marks, use a specialist suede or nubuck cleaner — dab, don't rub. Air dry away from direct heat. Treat periodically with a suede protector spray. Store with a shoe tree to hold the shape between wears.
