Where to Run in Kelowna: Every Run Club, Every Day of the Week

A complete guide to the Okanagan's running community — 19 clubs, when they meet, and where to find them.

Written by the team at Gallery Streetwear, 588 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna BC. Last updated 7 September 2026.

Kelowna has one of the best running scenes of any city its size in Canada. Nineteen clubs meet every week — on the Rail Trail, up Knox, around Mission Creek, and out of half the breweries in town. Most are free. Most will not drop you.

We put this together because the full list didn't exist anywhere. We sell shoes on Bernard Avenue and we've watched this scene grow from a handful of groups to nearly twenty. Show up to any of these and someone will say hello.

Quick answer: what is the easiest run club to start with in Kelowna?

Okanagan parkrun — Saturdays, 9:00 AM, Parkinson Recreation Centre. Free, timed, 5 km, every week without fail, and walkers are welcome. If you have never done a group run, start there or with the 410 Run Group on Tuesday evenings from Lululemon on Bernard — 5 km at your own pace, strollers welcome.

Never been to a run club? Read this first

Nobody cares how fast you are. Most of these are explicitly no-drop, which means the group waits.

Start with parkrun or the 410 group. Free, 5K, zero commitment, both used to first-timers.

Go to a brewery one if you're nervous. Barn Owl on Monday, North End on Wednesday. The run is the excuse; the point is the people.

Check socials before you go. Times shift with the seasons — especially the 6 AM ones once it's dark.

What to run in

We're a streetwear shop, not a running specialist, so we'll be straight with you: we don't stock racing flats or carbon plates. Go to a dedicated running store for those.

What we do carry suits how people actually run here — trails, gravel, the Rail Trail, shoulder-season weather — plus what you put on afterwards.

For the trail clubs — OKTR, Sustain, Bush Babes

On Cloudsoma Hike — $220
Men's 9–12 · Women's 6–10 · full size runs, both
The one we'd point most people at. Grippy enough for Knox and Mission Creek, cushioned enough that you'll still want it on at kilometre eleven. Our best-stocked shoe — every size, both genders.

New Balance Hierro v9 GORE-TEX — $229.99
Men's 9–12 · Women's 6–9 · complete runs
For when the trail is wet. GORE-TEX, proper lugs. A shoulder-season Okanagan shoe — October through April, when everything is mud.

For the road clubs — parkrun, 410, North End, Breakfast Club

Adidas Adistar Control 5 — $140
Men's 9–11 · Women's 7–9
A stability daily trainer. Unglamorous and good — what you want for the fifth run of the week.

New Balance 880R — $169.99
Sizes 8, 8.5, 9, 10.5, 12, 13. Neutral daily miles.

After the run

On Cloudtilt Remix — $210
Ash / Espresso, sizes 9–12. The one you wear to coffee afterwards and then all week.

On Cloudsoma Moc — $180 · Men's and Women's
Slip-on. For the ten minutes after you stop when you can't face laces.

New Balance Fresh Foam RCVRY — $52 · sizes 5 and 6 only
Recovery shoe, heavily reduced, nearly gone.

Frequently asked questions

How many run clubs are there in Kelowna?

Nineteen meet weekly, plus several more across the Okanagan in Vernon and Penticton. The busiest night is Wednesday, with seven separate groups running.

Are Kelowna run clubs free?

Most are. Okanagan parkrun, November Project, the 410 Run Group, North End Run Group, Fresh Air, Running Room, Barn Owl and Play are all free to drop in. Kelowna Triathlon Club and Okanagan Athletics Club are membership-based.

What is the best run club for beginners in Kelowna?

Okanagan parkrun on Saturdays at 9:00 AM — free, timed, 5 km, walkers welcome. The 410 Run Group on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM is also explicitly all-paces and stroller-friendly.

Where can I trail run in Kelowna?

Knox Mountain, Mission Creek Greenway and the Okanagan Rail Trail are the three most-used. Okanagan Trail Runners meet Thursdays at 6:30 PM at rotating trailheads, and Sustain Run Club meets Mondays. Greater Vernon markets itself as the trails capital of BC and is an hour north.

Is there a run club that meets in downtown Kelowna?

Yes — November Project meets at The Sails on the Bernard Avenue waterfront every Wednesday at 6:29 AM, and the 410 Run Group leaves from Lululemon at 410 Bernard on Tuesday evenings.

What shoes do I need to start running?

Whatever you own, for the first month. Once you know you'll keep going, get fitted properly. For Okanagan trails we'd suggest a trail shoe with real lugs — the On Cloudsoma Hike or New Balance Hierro v9 GORE-TEX. For road and Rail Trail, a cushioned daily trainer is enough.

Do run clubs meet in winter in Kelowna?

Most keep going year-round, though start times shift with daylight. Check each club's social accounts before heading out between November and March.
