Kelowna has around a dozen shoe stores, and they fall into three groups: independent boutiques downtown on Bernard Avenue, women's comfort and fashion specialists in South Pandosy, and mainstream chains clustered around Orchard Park and Harvey Avenue. This guide says who is where, what each one genuinely carries, and which one to go to depending on what you need. It is written by the team at Gallery Streetwear, an independent shop at 588 Bernard Ave — and we have named our competitors honestly, including the ones people choose over us.
Updated September 2026 — one important change. The Hype closed its Bernard Avenue storefront on 26 April 2026 and now trades online only. Older guides still send people to 543 Bernard Ave. Do not drive downtown for it; it is not there.

Downtown Bernard Avenue
Gallery Streetwear — 588 Bernard Ave
Gallery is an independent streetwear and sneaker shop in the middle of the Bernard Avenue strip. The footwear buy is current-season and deliberately narrow: New Balance, adidas Originals, On, Clarks Originals, Saucony and Last Resort AB. Gallery is a Tier 1 New Balance retailer, which is what gives it access to colourways that do not reach mall retail.
What that means in practice: it is a small shop with real size runs rather than a big shop with three sizes left. Things that are properly stocked right now include the adidas Handball Spezial, the Clarks Wallabee in maple suede, the New Balance 9060 and the Last Resort AB VM001 Lo.
It is also the practical answer to the sizing problem. Buying sneakers online means guessing between brands that size differently — a New Balance 9.5 is not an adidas 9.5. Downtown, you put them on. Rated 5.0 on Google, and recognised at Best of Kelowna — Bronze, Best Shoe Store (2026) and Bronze, Best Online Store (2025).

Cadence Shoes — 527 Bernard Ave
Two doors along the same block, Cadence is an independently owned store covering men's and women's footwear with the emphasis firmly on comfort and construction rather than trend. It is where you go for Blundstone, Birkenstock, John Fluevog and Johnston & Murphy — boots, everyday leather, and shoes intended to last several seasons.

The Hype — storefront closed
The Hype ran at 543 Bernard Ave for around four years, dealing in hyped and limited releases — Nike Dunks, Jordans, Yeezys — plus a consignment programme. The owners did not renew the lease and the storefront closed on 26 April 2026, with the business continuing online and from a warehouse. It is still trading; there is simply no longer a shop to walk into.
For anyone who used to buy there in person, the practical consequence is that downtown Kelowna now has no walk-in resale or consignment sneaker store. If you are after a specific hyped pair, you are buying online. If you want to try shoes on today, the remaining downtown options are the two above.
South Pandosy and Mission Park
Strut Footwear & Apparel — #29–3155 Lakeshore Rd
Strut is a women's footwear specialist in Mission Park Shopping Centre, and it is the strongest independent in Kelowna for European handcrafted comfort brands — Wonders, Hispanitas, un Tour en Ville, Dorking, Bueno, MJUS and Ateliers among them. The proposition is style with a genuinely wearable last, which is a different customer from ours.
If you want a European comfort brand, Strut is the specialist and we do not compete with it.
Orchard Park and Harvey Avenue
BLVD Shoes — Orchard Park Shopping Centre, 2271 Harvey Ave
BLVD is a locally owned fashion footwear boutique inside Orchard Park, covering women's and men's shoes plus handbags. It sits between the independents and the chains: more curated than a mall chain, more fashion-led than the comfort specialists.
The chains
Foot Locker, SoftMoc and The Shoe Company all trade in the Orchard Park and Harvey Avenue corridor, and there are outlet and warehouse formats nearby. They are the right call for mainstream athletic models, kids' shoes, and buying several pairs cheaply. They are the wrong call for current-season or limited colourways, which is exactly the gap the downtown independents fill.
