Gramicci

Mike Graham designed the original Gramicci pant in Yosemite in 1982, for climbers. The gusseted crotch got rid of the binding at the top of the thigh that made normal trousers useless on a rock face. The webbing belt cinched one-handed, no buckle. The cotton-nylon twill took granite and got softer every wash.

The brand faded from North American retail and was reborn in Japan, where outdoor and street have been in conversation far longer than here. That's why a climbing pant now hangs next to skate denim rather than in an outdoor shop, and why it works.

Sizing — read this before you order

Gramicci is sized to Japanese measurements and runs smaller than you'd expect. Most people size up one for tops. For bottoms, ignore S/M/L and order by your actual waist measurement. The women's G-Pant is slightly tapered through the lower leg compared to the men's.

Does Gramicci run true to size?
No. Japanese sizing, runs small. Size up one for tops; order bottoms by waist measurement.

What's the difference between the G-Short and the Gadget Short?
The G-Short is the classic cotton-nylon twill climbing short. The Gadget Short is a slimmer technical nylon blend with utility pockets.

What is the Gadget Pant?
The roomy, low-rise cut with wraparound cargo pockets and the same gusseted crotch.

Do you carry women's?
Yes — pants in black, chino and navy, the Original Pant, and the G-Short.
