Skullcandy was founded in 2003 in Park City, Utah by Rick Alden. It came straight out of board-sports culture rather than the consumer-electronics world, and has spent two decades making audio that's affordable, durable and actually designed — which is why it ended up in skate and snowboard shops long before it reached the big-box aisle.
